(For example, she did not understand what a boy meant when he asked if she was "diggin' the scene" when she was at a party, and stated, confused, "I did not know we were supposed to bring shovels.") This leads to much confusion for her and others, such as the awkwardness in casually drinking mustard as a beverage, and thinking cotton candy and cotton balls are the same thing. An alien and an outsider, she is still rather new to Earth and its customs. She also seems to resemble some Japanese girls, inheriting similar eyebrows and very shiny hair.ĭespite her beauty, Starfire is joyous, naive, and somewhat insecure, but her naivete is not to be mistaken for stupidity. She wears a violet sleeveless crop top showing her midriff, a violet mini-skirt, and violet thigh-high boots with white stocking.Īs a Tamaranean, she has alien physiology which includes a long purple tongue and nine stomachs, (probably for storing food during meager times). She is tall, with bright orange-ish skin, (or it seems to have a yellow-ish skin tone in the comic strip above), and her outfit is mostly violet with a belt, her neck and gauntlets being silver. She has small eyebrows, and blue eyes with light-blue scleras (or in other words, the whites of her eyes are colored light-green). Her long fiery-red hair is down to her waist and straight with bangs. Her eyes, long eyelashes, hair, skin, and outfit view her as colorful in comparison to Raven. The five teenagers founded the Teen Titans shortly after. The two got into an argument, but the situation was quickly defused after they apologized to each other, and the decision was made to work as a team to save the city from the Gordanians' particle weapon. Angered at Lord Trogaar's promise of destruction, she yelled at Robin, reminding him that she told him to leave her alone. Having been tracked by the Titans, she reunited with them and fought off the wave of Gordanians sent to recapture her. Once freed, she sought out food in the form of popcorn and candy at the local video store. (This falls in line with how Tamaraneans learn language through lip contact.) And then Cyborg said that she knows how to leave a mark. She grabbed and kissed him to learn the English language, and warned him to leave her alone if they do not wish to be destroyed. Carefully, he talked the mysterious girl down and took off the handcuffs. Raven suggested that fighting may not be the answer, and only then didRobin notice the handcuffs. While attempting to free herself of the handcuffs with which she had been laden, she ended up both destroying buildings and cars, and running into four young teenagers with whom she would later fight crime. Through the use of her innateTamaranean strength, she broke free from the brig aboard a Gordanian ship and landed in Jump City. Starfire came to Earth as Koriand'r, an alien princess being transported byGordanians, in exile as a slave to the Citadel. Later, in the comic Teen Titans Go, it's revealed she also has a younger brother named Wildfire, who was sent away when the Gordaniansattacked Tamaran, and that her parents died from grief after she was traded as a slave by Blackfire to the Gordanians in order to bring peace to war-torn Tamaran. Starfire's only family of which we know in the series is her evil big sister Blackfire. ![]() Starfire was cared for as a child by Galfore, who first appeared in Betrothed. Because of this, Starfire is inherently the most sensitive member of the Titans. In fact, it's their emotions that fuel their natural abilities of flight. Starfire was born and raised on the distant planet Tamaran before arriving on Earth and joining the Teen Titans.

My dad would return to the cabin each morning after having snuck out early to read the newspaper or check e-mail in the lounge. ASHLEY KOSCIOLEK/THE POINTS GUYĪ regular part of any routine on a cruise is, of course, food. Inevitably, one of us would sleepily exclaim, "What was that?" before we'd look at each other, realize what was happening, shake our heads and go back to sleep. We're both light sleepers, so there were several times when we were both startled awake by the creaking and humming mechanical sounds of the stacks going up or down. The funniest part of it, though, is that our cabin was right next to the boat's smokestacks, which had to be raised and lowered whenever the vessel sailed under a bridge. I take forever to get ready, and I like to spread out when I'm working. We learned to share space in a way we never had to before, deftly acclimating to each other's quirks. My mom took us to our local airport where we picked up the rental car - a surprisingly cheap $150 one-way Budget rental - for an impromptu road trip and split the drive, stopping along the way for snacks and testing the car's text dictation. The boat was departing from Pittsburgh the next day, and the drive was only 4.5 hours. Worried that we couldn't arrive in time if the new flight was also affected, I called the airline, canceled both my flight and my dad's, and booked us a rental car instead. I groaned, grabbing my phone to look at my United app, which informed me that we had been rescheduled for the following morning. But my dad doesn't have those things, and he's a nervous traveler - the stereotypical father who insists everyone needs to be at the airport no fewer than five hours before any flight.Īs I rushed around, tossing last-minute items into my backpack, my dad announced from the living room that our flight had been canceled. I ran downstairs in my standard flight attire - leggings, a nice T-shirt and my Birkenstocks - hair soaking wet, sweating from rushing around. Here's how our sailing brought us closer. To my delight, the trip proved to be a great way to bond with my dad in less of a parent-child way and more of a "hey, I'm an adult now let's be friends" way. I’ve cut out the monument and isolated it. I chose to cut the area I had selected - the area outside the monument - out of the image. Initially, the magic wand only picked up some of that sky, but multiple clicks pretty easily got me to the point where I had selected all of it - and isolated the monument. I clicked the sky area outside the monument a few times more while holding down the shift key and was able to select all of the area *outside* of the monument. I start with one click of the magic wand: Similarly, real-world images like this one that have a relatively simple composition with straightforward shading can be easily cut out. Using the magic wand with shaded backgrounds I could then copy and paste into another image if that’s my goal. If I choose to cut the area out with a simple “Cut” command, I have the robot all by itself. The area selected is outlined with flashing pixels. One click with the magic wand, and I’ve selected the entire area outside of the robot. I started by opening a blank, transparent canvas and pasting the Instructables robot into it as a layer. The easiest images to alter are ones like this illustration of the Instructables robot, which is basically a collection of flat colors with very clear outlines. Hit the delete key or choose Cut from the Edit menu to delete selected areas.Hold down the shift key to add more areas to your selection (if needed). The magic wand will outline the area selected with flashing dotted lines. Select the magic wand tool from the toolbar. You’ve got nothing to lose and an undo button with you at all times. Once you do that, you’ll see the respective area outlined with a flashing dotted line. If the background is one color or monotone or without a lot of complex shading or tones, or if the area you want to cut out has a strong outline that sets it apart from the background (e.g., a logo), you can simply use the magic wand and click on the area you want to copy or the area you want to cut. The magic wand is magically effective when your background is simple in nature. Today, we’re going to show you the simple way later this week, we’ll show you the advanced way. A lot depends on the background of your photo and how complex the image is. Off the top of my head I can't remember how, but it is doable. How do you cut things out? That’s one of the questions we hear the most. Cutting out an image can be very easy or a bit challenging. If you happen to have photoshop, this is pretty fast thing to do and semi handy because you don't have to leave the application to do some image editing.Right click the document with slice tool and choose "Divide slice".Has overlap feature, which is super useful if you don't want to leave gaps between your sheets of paper.Modern versions have "Poster" tab in the Print window. In older versions of Acrobat Reader, there is "Tile large pages" option.I believe there are other sites/applications like this out there.I have used it, and it does work pretty nicely.Only downside being that 1MB file size limit. The first thought that came to mind was Block Posters. This will definitely be the application I'm gonna use if, I want to make multi-page poster again. It is easy to get around ( which is why I said it was irrelevant ): Set small overlap ( like 1mm ), go to the next page and slice up that image aaand then come back to overlap and set it to 0mm again. Overlap seems to be the thing that visually divides your picture in the preview, so when you set that to 0, you can't see how many slices you got and what it looks like. If you want to get creative and leave gaps between the sheets of paper, you have to set overlap to zero, but that screws up the preview. One big minus ( but at the same time very irrelevant minus ) seems to be the very same overlap feature I just praised.Of course it's only beneficial feature if you don't want any gaps between your paper sheets. Overlap feature combined with the easiness of the application makes me wish I had known about this application before.Although when compared to other methods, it doesn't reeaaally offer anything that you can't live without ( except maybe the next feature below ↓ ) Has pretty much everything you could ask for. It looks like source forge is down at the moment, so I had to google Poster Razor mac, to download it.I was curious, since this apparently has win, mac and linux versions. As far as gimp goes, I have no idea how to make multi-page posters or slice image, but that answer was already given, so that's good.
